One more point to support the local hobby shops. When they are gone and you run out of Thick CA in the middle of a project or find it is hardened then you will have to order it from china and it will be 4-6 weeks before you receive your glue! How do you like them apples?
I have been supporting my local hobby shops for over 30 years :D but times are getting tougher! Our local hobbytown put all the smaller guys OOB and now do not carry stock.  :( Our hobby shop in New York is still going strong because they did NOT try to compete but offered what the mail order guys can not! Service! How about running clinics! Bring people in with a radio installation clinic or a ARF repair workshop!
Run them on a Saturday morning or after hours on a week night. there are plenty of topics that will feed everyone from beginner to expert that can be utilized. while you are at it adopt a school for a aviation program. We have found plenty of club members that have older functioning radios they are willing to donate and the rest of the materials can be supplied cheap enough. You get the kids hooked and then the dads, brothers and sisters and even the moms will follow. Work with a club to do a mall show around the holidays! Our club used to do 2-3 a year with the LHS sponsoring it. We put on the show and supploed the time and manpower, had a great time and drove new customers to the LHS!
If you want more ideas just drop me a line!
