Just ran across this.. I knew we were having a fly in when the pic was taken... but when I looked at it with Google Earth... its was unmistakable... It >IS< the CrazyBall in the center of the runway...with its little round shadow cast on the ground right below it..

Talk about coincidence!!!

you can see the fly in in google maps at the above link

Here is the Google Earth picture

Looks like there was a Fun Fly that day.. I've never seen it that busy.  Do you recognize the specific day?  Very cool

Yes,  I was scheduled to work that day... but being "new" I was allowed a bit more leeway and lucked up on the day off arriving for me.g a bit later than I normally do..

It was the funfly that I won the spot landing comp (Rumplestadt biplane -my design) (faint x on the field) , they had the wingless drag race (line markers on each end) and I had won the Dixie death flying my little Streak (was attacked by hawk and chased him ...still won it all happened in 1 minute 22 seconds.

It was a bit windy as I had to pretty much dork the biplane onto the x

Quite a day to remember...and now finding that Google Earth had snapped a shot at the exact time I was demo' ing my new patented CrazyBall Plane, is no less than a "pinnacle" experience for me

Despite popular belief we actually do quite a bit over at that little club...  :shades

And for the record here's the event view that day from the ground:

And the wingless drag race will never be as funny as the first one... You just had to be there. Somethings just aren't worth a free autographed Hooter's calendar.

BTW, this year's fun fly is Oct 29-30...  That's right 2 days... COME!!!
We'll pull out the limbo again if people want to do it.

Kerbob, sounds like you just need to come by more often... Maybe Join... It's only $14 for the rest of the year if you've never been a member before.

BTW, I think I see myself in the Google photo, taking a photo of your plane.

I was there that day.. I got there just before dusk.  You and BlueNote had already gone for the day, but the diehards were still there (i.e. Gittarpik).  I flew my SlowStick night flyer.  I think the field is great and all the folks I met there are super. It's just not often that I get enough fly time to make the drive out there.

Actually, the real diehards were there at 8:00 am setting up grills, unloading coolers,  and later, hauling off trash, etc. so the other diehards could have a good time and show up at their convenience.  :D

Seriously though, I do hope that having it 2 days this year will give opportunity for more to show up.
