With the 2011 year coming to a close, we are planning to hold our annual club meeting at :
Wallace Memorial Baptist Church
701 Merchant Drive
Knoxville,TN 37912
Room S243 (The corner room upstairs )
Website:
http://www.wmbc.net/ All that are wanting to join Volunteer Aeromodelers or renew there membership are encouraged to attend and participate in some of the decisions the club will be faced with in 2012. This is your single easiest and quickest opportunity to rejoin for the coming year.
Topics to be discussed or voted on :1) Review of 20112) Officer elections will occur at the meeting for the coming year
3) Implementation of VAM membership stickers to the AMA card to avoid non-paying "members" for 2012 * Due to the growing number of pilots that enjoyed our field without paying or renewing in a timely manner, is has been decided to affix a VAM specific sticker to each
members AMA card to prove membership. It should be the responsibility of every member to confirm that anyone flying at VAM is a current member, a qualified guest of a member,
and in possession of a current AMA membership...which is an absolute must. Those not able to pay in person will be required to provide a self addressed stamped envelope for the
return of the membership confirmation sticker.
4) Method of membership renewals ( in person, via mail, via PayPal ) * As always, proof of current ( 2012 ) AMA membership will be required to join the club, so bring your cards or printed receipt of your AMA renewal.
5) Expansion/modification of the frequency box to allow a place for 2.4GHz users to display their AMA cards * We have all become comfortable with the frequency freedom new technology has provided us, but this has also led to non AMA and non VAM members flying regularly. To
encourage self policing, and AMA compliance, provisions for expanding/modifying the frequency box to allow provisions for placement of AMA cards for 2.4GHz users will need to be
a subject of discussion at this years meeting. Anyone with a plane in the pits of in the air should have their AMA card displayed.
6) Club Fuel order * This subject has come up over and over with little action on the matter. Within our club, we have the provisions to buy a drum of fuel at a discount and then dispense it
among our members. This requires a commitment from our members in advance prior to ordering to make sure it is paid for and dispersed in a timely manner. The subject of fuel
choice has come up several times this year and it seems everyone has different preferences in fuels, so decision of preference may need to be made and then compared to
availability. In the past, we have purchased Red Max fuel from FHS in South Carolina at a discount. Think about your needs and prepare to discuss it at the meeting.
7) Club Fun-Flys or Fly-Ins, pic-nicks and cookouts, promotional events for the community, partnering with other clubs during other events, etc.
Special Interest and Considerations * There has been a growing interest of developing some small-field pylon racing that would be safe and appropriate for our field to supplement budding interest at other neighboring clubs
* Safety concerns with the growing number of electric planes in regards to arming behind the safety fence, charging, and fire safety considerations
9) The gate and frequency box combination will be changed immediately after the January 8, 2012 meeting. * Membership privileges will still be in effect until that time for the 2011 members, but if you do not have your 2012 AMA membership proof, DO NOT FLY.
10) Round Robin...anything else not mention above that comes up.11) As a bonus, we will be raffling off a free membership renewal among those that are in attendance for this meeting that can also provide proof of their 2012 AMA
membership. Only renewing members in good standing with the club are eligible for the renewal prize, not new applicants.Look forward to seeing you all there on Sunday, January 8th at 2PM. Hopefully 2012 will be a great year for all of us full of many days of enjoyable and safe flying.
