i've been looking and done my research on this 2.4ghz module for my 72mhz radio. i ordered this from HK. I really haven't had any problems with the 72 mhz but hopefully i can join a club the summer and didnt want to fool with waiting for a channel, etc. with this version of the module i can keep 72mhz and it comes with a switch that you can simple switch from one to the other. it just three wires to solder and they said on rcgroups its pretty easy to install. when it gets here and i get ready install i'll post some pics of the before and after

If the only reason you're looking to upgrade is waiting on a channel... I use 72mhz at VAM pretty often and never have to wait for any of my frequencies since most flyers except the FPV'ers are on 2.4 now. But, good luck with the install.

As far as 72MHz goes, I recommend Corona RP8D1's from HobbyKing. They are the best synthesized 72MHz Rx money can buy and they are cheap. They outperform the most expensive Futaba Rx's made and that is from experience. I have gotten some pretty amazing range out of them......you wouldn't believe me if I told you.

What brand/model radio are you installing this in out of curiosity?

Ahh I gotcha. Plenty of room in there to tuck all the wires away. Post some pics when you have it done.

well i placed my order about last week and they where out of stock by the time i placed mine but they came back in stock wed. morning, has anyone else ordered a backstock item from HK, i would think they would have sent my order out already since it was reserved and i should have been the first or second one reserved. the item page shows 10+ in stock and also on a different note my RX signal wire got cut in half by my prop the other day can i tape it back together with electric tape and still get a good signal it was about half away so theres a good bit of wire left still attached to the RX

My experience, ordering stuff back order from hobbyking seems to require some patience. But usually once they release it on your order it shouldn't take much longer. I've waited months before for backorder stuff.
I've used 72mhz in rc combat and have gotten some antennas cut. I've had pretty good luck soldering them back together, but once they get broken in more than 2 or 3 places, I usually just replace with a new wire and very carefully solder at the receiver board. You can't get too sloppy with the receiver board joint, but if you're careful and if you make the wire the same length as original, you will be alright. One splice though shouldn't be a big deal, but I highly recommend soldering it though, I wouldn't just tape it.

The shipping is usually slow this time of year due to the Chinese New Year holiday, which last for two weeks or more. I think all the online vendors there shut down for it. I've noticed it seems to affect their USA warehouse shipping times too, I've been waiting on a box myself.
