Kerbob, I wasn't aware there was local "real" full contact combat.  I'm interested in something like.  Can you give info?  Is it a one design plane? electric? epp?....

Relaxnfly,
I'm was talking about BlueNote's planes (i.e. Tomahawk and the new E-Tomahawk) and also slowstick combat out at KCRC. The slowstick combat is really crepe paper but a couple slowsticks usually go down every weekend.

Did not know that this subject was active again. I am game for sonic combat and will gladly shoot down John's Cub whenever he likes......within reason  :)

Then again, I've seen that cub fly and I think it will go vertical as high as you can see it.  I'll have to break out my EZ Export adapter and figure out how to hook all that stuff back up. Like JC said, PZ type warbirds are ideal for this sort of thing but a cub is uber recoverable from the engine cutout. As long as you don't get shot down too low there is no problem.  The main limitation IMO is how you activate the SCM. You could use the gear channel. A push button would be ideal but how many Tx's have that.  I think 3-4 Axis planes vs 3-4 allied ones would be incredible fun. Team on team with each player landing when "killed" with the last team standing winning.

To those that have never done this, let me tell you it is a complete hoot and unlike full contact combat you don't have to destroy your plane in the process. (Although that is a distinct possibility so a beater is nice) Also unlike streamer combat, you don't have to fly a stodgy old slowstick.

Alltel would be a perfect place for this and I think I can con my brother in law into it and maybe one other.

Besides Kerbob and his uber-cub, who else is interested? SCM's can be had for cheap online and the $35 module can be had for less if more than one are ordered at a time.

Regards,
Alan

I realize now I'll need a EZ-XPORT to make this work.  My original SuperCub receiver started glitching and I replaced it with Spektrum.  I'm looking for where I can score an ez-xport but can't seem to find them anywhere.  Anyone else see them somewhere?

I found a guy who has figured out how to make them work without an EX-XPORT here:

Here's some more plans on how to make your own EZ-EXPORT:

I think you can still get the adapter from John Cunningham. Thats where I got mine. Frankly I'm surprised the original sonic combat did not sell better or a better MILES type system developed. Seems the logical next step for foam warbird enthusiasts. After you put the old girl through her paces, its time for some real bogeys!

We thought about cub combat but my old cub went away and there is no way I would risk the balsa cub I built doing this. Thats my lazy day flyer.

Alan
