Knox Area Slope flying
« on: February 22, 2009, 05:38:54 PM »
Many might not know that there is some good SLOPE flying in/around this area.  As of right now there are only a few people in this area that fly Slope.  So, I thought I would share some videos that we have made over the last couple of years.  Remember these planes are gliders...no motors/engines.  The last three videos feature some Dynamic Soaring.  If you don't know what Dynamic Soaring (DS) is then check this link:

Hope you enjoy!  Please share comments and ask questions.

Great videos!  8)  Never new about DS'ing and it was amazing to see how fast those planes were going without an engine.   :o
I have been wanting to get a good soaring plane.  I swear the winds have been a lot stronger ever since I got into a hobby that required calm winds (about a year now).  If I have a soaring plane, maybe I'll be good in any wind.
I've made you the moderator for this section since I don't know enough about soaring/gliding yet.
Thanks for the post Michael!

Hi Michael,

We needed something like this along time ago.  Enjoyed the videos! We need to get together and do some more flying!

The peanut gallery can't be complete until all the peanuts are in!

I was pretty shocked when BN told me the other day the RC speed record (informal or not) was held by a glider. I never would have guessed that. I think I'd like to give it a try someday.

Hey Michael!
Great vids & good to see you busy!
I'm still flying my ascent in the backyard & still have a depron dynamite on the bench. (Building inertia stalled out on me last year)
