Wrecked only once.  :P

Photos below.  I think its possible to get this thing back in the air.. but it would take some work. You'd have to rebuild a firewall and, for looks, buy a new cowl.  I've removed the servos and other electronics.  You'll have to supply your own, but they screw in.. not glued.

Let me know if you want it.  It was probably the most beautiful plane I've owned but it flew like a brick.  I still have some of the shrapnel you see in the wreck photo and will give it to you.   :o

Heli Yes!.. it is yours.  Don't feel bad.  You can use it for spare parts or try to get it up in the air again.

Heli Yes, one man's trash is another man's treasure!  I've seen that plane, and it's certainly repairable with plywood, epoxy, and patience.

Take a look what can be fixed rather easily and quickly if you have time, the temperament, and some basic tools.

My only suggestion is, if your only experience flying fixed wing is your SS, get something else in between that and this.  If you jump straight to this, I fear the first flight the plane will end up in the very same condition.  Planes like these are very difficult to fly if you aren't EXTREMELY comfortable with ailerons, and they are not at all forgiving. (As you can see from both our examples!)

Nice! yea it looks like a pretty difficult plane to fly... I have a super sportster ep I am beginning to build and should be a good(challenging) second plane. I plan to take my time and repair the ultimate the right way while I practice with the others. Thanks to everyone for all the support!

The thread for the 30" Nitroplanes Ultimate Bipe is here..

http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showthread.php?t=970660

You can see video of it flying there too.  All have said it flies like a brick; doesn't glide at all.
However, if you like FAST and FURIOUS, this little plane is it.

I met EricJ320 for the first time 15min after I ditched this bipe and it was that day that he showed me the plane above; but that was before it he crashed and fixed it.

I think challenging is right!  I probably would have suggested something high wing for a first aileron plane.  A low wing plane just has a lot more inherent instability to it.  But I don't know anything about that plane other than the manufacturer's website.  I am sure you did plenty of reading around to decide that was the right plane for you.  Good luck with it, take it slowly, and be patient.  I am sure all will be good, you were handling that SS in the wind like a champ!  Maybe if you had someone on a buddy box with you the first time or so might not be a bad idea, just a thought.  I just know that ME540 of mine is a lot to handle and it's a mid mounted wing.  My nerves were certainly on edge the first flights, and still yet, and by the results they were justified!  :'(

I looked around for a bit, but when I ordered the Super sportster I didn't have any fixed wing experience other than  with a sim and I didn't know anyone to advise me. The review I read said it was a very easy low wing to fly and that it handled well at slow speeds, that the construction was a breeze and the included motor even worked well. After ordering it and getting excited for a while, I read some forums(one of which included a link to this site ;D) and learned that I definately needed to leave it in the box for a while. I don't mind being patient and would love to let someone get it up in the air and land it for me the first few times. I still need practice with the other SS first though and might look into a high wing with ailerons that can be abused. I can't wait to fly the Ultimate though that forum had some good advice. Definately flies like a brick/hotrod

I still stand by my recommendation for the MSComposit Citabria.  Though mine isn't, it can easily be converted to aileron, the lines to cut are already printed on mine.  It's cheap, almost indestructible EPP foam, and a real stable flyer!

Plus Knoxhobbies carries it in stock locally.

Just another choice for your growing hanger!

If my wife had an account, she'd being saying 'amen brotha'.
"Another plane!?!? Really?!? Where are you going to put it?  We can't afford this hobby."  I've heard all of 'em before and inside I agree.  I used to be frugal before this hobby.  ::)

When I first got my Typhoon 2 3D, I wrecked it 3 times in a row on my first 3 flights with each flight lasting about 3 seconds.  I went to KCRC one day (the club flying field).  There was a guy there that was very nice and he took my typhoon up high and gave me the controls.  That sure helped a lot.

If there is someone at the KCRC field, they'll likely let you be their guest if you drive up and ask them.  The folks I've met there have been top notch and they've got lots of experience to boot.

Yea I would love to go down there sometime. Are there people there on certain days, or just nice days? Its a bit of a drive from where I am at but if I knew there would be someone there when I went, I would have no problem making the drive. I could definately use some help getting these birds up in the air when the time comes.
