Knoxville's New F-16
« on: March 05, 2010, 12:14:32 PM »
I just finished building a new jet and will be bringing it out to KCRC tomorrow to run the engine and do a taxi test. The jet is a 1:6-scale F-16 from BVM and Skymaster. It's powered by a JetCat P160-SX turbine producing 36-40 pounds of thrust @ 125,000 RPM, and has some of the coolest scale landing gear you'll ever lay eyes on.  ;)

If anyone is interested in getting into turbines, I'd be glad to go over all the internals tomorrow and walk you through the basics of building and flying turbine jets.

That is one sweet lookin' jet Jeff!  I hope she flies at least as half as good as she looks. That really looks SCA-ALE!

The F-16 flew for the first time this week. Dustin Buescher did the maiden flight and pronounced it airworthy, and then he and I joined forces to put a total of seven flights on it. This is one sweet bird.

But don't take my word for it; watch the video:

That is quite awesome Jeff... it flies as good as it looks.  :notworthy

Is flying this one out of KCRC in the realm of possibility?

It's *possible* it'll fly at KCRC someday. I'll have a better handle on the odds after I work it out at Georgia Jets a time or two. Let's hope!
