looking for white foam for cutting out wings.
« on: June 30, 2010, 06:44:48 PM »
does anybody know where to by sheets of white foam. i'm looking for sheets that are somewhere around 8'x4'x3". there was a place in downtown knoxville that i bought from for years but they have gone out of business. i haven't had the need to buy any in a while since a sheet that big will make more than a few wings. just thought i would ask.....thanks.

I've bought different kinds of foam sheets from them in the past, but there is a good chance they may have what you need. Being that they are also downtown, hopefully they are not the same company that you use to use which has since closed down.

They have a lot of packaging supplies, including foam, but I'm not sure about sheets such as you require.

You might try these if you strike out above.  Supposedly, they sell several varieties of foams or might be able to tell you where to look.

There was still a foam supplier somewhere off of John Sevier Hwy in the industrial area last year that carried a lot of different types of foam, but since I wanted EPP and they didn't have it, I never visited them.  I can't recall the name, but I found it listed somewhere in the phone book.  However, it is not under something obvious like "Styrofoam", or "foam". Although, it may be worth searching out as a last resort.

Good luck.

okay guys,

We will share our source for foam... same place that Carden aircraft gets their foam....

Energy Systems  - forks of the River.... Knoxville
637-0700  great prices

I get 1# virgin and if you want 3/4 # virgin as for the Carden plane foam.. they will cut it any size for you and if you call Monday you should be able to pick up Wednesday.

This is what we use on all the competition planes we manufacture and also for plug making.

contact Larry Blevins (Magnum Models)  he works in EPP all the time and can point you in the right direction for this.
